Túath in collaboration with Dublin City Council, the Dublin Region Homeless Executive, NAMA, Focus Ireland, and the Peter McVerry Trust are delighted to have scooped the ‘special recognition award’ at the All Ireland social housing awards event in Belfast City Hall on the 4th March 2016.
The Chartered Institute of Housing panel judged that the scheme and the organisations involved had made an outstanding contribution to ensure better housing in Ireland. The initiative at Clare Village was deemed a perfect example and the clear winner of this prestigious award. The housing project reflects a shared commitment to social housing and to combatting the homeless crisis via innovative, joined up thinking.

Túath and Dublin City Council worked diligently with other key stakeholders to acquire 119 apartments for social housing by gradually building up a sustainable stake of one third of all homes in the estate whilst NAMA worked to ensure that construction work was finished. In a ground-breaking homelessness initiative, Túath with Dublin City Council, NAMA, Albany Homes, the Housing Agency and the Dublin Region Homeless Executive collaborated to build out the last unfinished apartments as a co-ordinated response to the escalating homelessness crisis. A pioneering framework was simultaneously established to allow for the homes to be exclusively allocated to homeless families. Valuable work was also undertaken by social housing management partners, Focus Ireland and the Peter McVerry Trust to deliver sustainable tenancy solutions for new tenants.
