Social Service Company (Trinity College) Limited
MERRICK HOUSE is named after Dr Margaret Merrick, who was a pioneer in the care of senior citizens. Dr. Merrick and the Irish Red Cross Old Peoples Committee had joined forces in 1953 with The Social Service Co. (Trinity College) Ltd., which had been providing housing for the people of Dublin.
The present house, built in 1969, originally provided bed-sitting rooms for twelve residents, this proved to be so successful that in 1997, a new wing was built to provide a further six bed-sitting rooms. Following a recent extensive building programme the original rooms have been extended and all 18 rooms now enjoy full en-suite facilities.
MERRICK HOUSE today continues to be run by The Social Service Company (Trinity College) Limited, which is a Registered Charity, and is completely non-profit making.
MERRICK HOUSE, situated in Terenure Village centre, close to all amenities, provides bed-sitting rooms for Senior Citizens who are encouraged to live as independently as possible.
Caring support staff are available to help when necessary but full nursing care is not provided.
Merrick House is non-denominational and is open to both men and women.
Rent is arranged to suit each resident’s means.
