Home for Christmas

Túath Housing is delighted that over 90 families will have new homes in time for Christmas as tenants move into Clare Village in Dublin & Gouldshill, Mallow, County Cork.

Clare Village is a high density residential development, with over 400 apartments. Forty nine 1, 2 and 3 bed apartments have been acquired for social housing by Túath in a €7.3 million deal in partnership with Dublin City Council. A key aspect of the scheme involved the developer completing unfinished apartments at the scheme. All 49 units have been handed over to Túath Housing and our new residents have received their keys to their new homes. Túath also worked with Dublin City Council and were able to offer accommodation on a temporary basis to families in need of emergency accommodation as a result of the High Court Order on the Priory Hall Development.

Gooldshill in Mallow is a social leasing scheme in partnership with Cork County Council where over 40 families received their new homes with a further 48 to be provided in the New Year. This is the Associations first scheme in North Cork and Túath look forward to establishing ourselves in Mallow with our new tenants.

Túath welcome the opportunity to work with both Dublin City Council and Cork County Council to provide much needed high quality accommodation at both locations and would like to wish our new tenants a peaceful & enjoyable Christmas in their new homes.

October 2011

Túath Housing and Meath County Council are delighted to have had their official opening of the Social Housing units at Knightsbridge, Trim, Co. Meath and the launch of Túath Housing’s Corporate Plan on 13th October 2011.

Knightsbridge Village is a development of 69 bungalows and apartments, which offers high quality, independent living accommodation for residents over 55. Túath Housing’s units comprise of a mix of seven 2-bed bungalows and apartments and three 1-bed apartments.

Mr Willie Penrose, Minister for Housing & Planning, kindly agreed to officiate at the event. The residents of Knightsbridge Village, Túath Housing, Meath County Council and Barchester Healthcare extend their appreciation and thanks to all who attended to make the day a special occasion.

The project was part funded by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government and supported by the Housing and Sustainable Communities Agency to provide social housing using Capital Advanced Leasing Facility (CALF).

Túath Housing received 47% CALF funding towards the acquisition of 6 units and Túath provided the remaining 53%. Túath also leased 4 units from Barchester for a 10 year period.

Speaking at the event Túath’s Chairperson, Marian Jennings concluded the ceremony with stating that; “The signing of this agreement shows that CALF, combined with association finance and private leasing can be made to work to ensure that the taxpayer gets value for money. As a not-for-profit Housing Association we are truly delighted to be at the forefront of these important initiatives. In striving to achieve our mission of changing housing for the better we will, with the continued support of our state and local authority partners, continue to work for people and places, not profit.”

New social housing let in Dun Laoghaire

Honey Park is a high density residential development, which will eventually contain some 856 dwellings when fully built along with crèche facilities, a supermarket, shops, cafe and a neighbourhood centre on the 78-acre site of the former Dún Laoghaire Golf Club.

Eighty apartments of mixed size were acquired by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council under Part V. The homes have been recently let to persons on the Council’s waiting list with Túath managing the social housing for the Council under a management agreement.

The development is family friendly and includes a well-designed, playground. The scheme has also been designed to minimise its environmental impact. Optimum use has been made of the heating system and other energy saving measures. The vast majority of apartments scored grade A in BER assessments. The key environmental feature of the development is that the apartments are supplied with heating and hot water via a Bord na Mona district heating system from a centralised boiler, which should result in extremely low heating and hot water costs for tenants.

First CALF Delivered

Túath Housing are delighted to have signed up to the first Capital Advance Leasing Facility (CALF) project with the DOEHLG and Meath County Council. The innovative scheme is based on a ‘hybrid’ purchase and lease arrangement. Six properties have been purchased and four leased at the lovely Retirement Village at Knightsbridge, Trim, Co. Meath. The dwellings have been pre-allocated to independent, active elderly persons selected exclusively from the Council’s waiting list.

SCHEME DETAILS: Knightsbridge Village is a new development of 69 homes, designed specifically for older people. The scheme is located adjacent to a new nursing home and it is also centered round a recreational communal facility. These housing plus facilities will provide tenants with the opportunity to live independently with the benefit of security and support services, if required. As one of the largest provider of nursing home and care services to the elderly in the UK (Barchester Healthcare) can provide optional support services, including domicillary and home care to residents at Knightsbridge. Knightsbridge is a dedicated care village, providing independent living options for persons over 55 through the provision of independent living accommodation as well as nursing, respite & post operative care at the on-site Nursing Home. The village is situated on a twelve acre campus. The site also includes a village hall and library with internet, coffee shop, all-weather bowling green, gardens & raised access flowerbeds, children’s play area and a medical centre, which serves as a public Primary Care Centre (PCC) for Trim and surrounding areas. Services include GP’s & public health nurses.
