Thomond Housing Association

On 18th December last Thomond Housing Association Ltd. hosted a reception to mark the official opening of Doire House, Rhebogue, Limerick which is the new home of five intellectually disabled service users of the Brothers of Charity Services, Limerick.

Thomond Housing Association Ltd. works in partnership with this latter organisation to provide accommodation to its service users. To date, 34 units of accommodation have been provided by Thomond Housing Association Ltd under the Capital Assistance Scheme, with over 40 other units at various stages of development.

Doire House is a group home where each of the five tenants has their own bedroom and their own bathroom. Two of the tenants live in self-contained units at each end of the house. A social care worker employed by the Brothers of Charity Services, Limerick also resides in the house to provide the required support to its tenants.

Thomond Housing Association Ltd. wishes to gratefully acknowledge the support of Limerick City Council and the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in making funding of €597,000 available to develop this project. The reception was attended by Councillor John Gilligan, Mayor of Limerick and Mr Kieran Lehane, Director of Services, Limerick City Council both of whom spoke to those who attended.
