Household Charge - Exemption

Social Housing, charity and sheltered homes will be exempt from the new household charge which was announced by Minister for Environment Phil Hogan. The charge of €100 is being introduced to fund local services in line with the requirement in the EU / IMF programme of Financial Supports for Ireland and will be applied to the majority of households across the country in early 2012. Those living in unfinished housing estates will also have the charge waived.
The ICSH have been seeking an exemption for social housing organisations for some time and welcome the waiver of the new charge for social housing.
