Breaking Down the Myths: Providing and Managing Housing Services for Homeless People

FEANTSA recently produced a Tookit for Housing Practitioners wishing to provide and manage housing services for homeless households. The FEANTSA Housing Working Group compising housing representatives from national represenative organisations included input from the ICSH and case studies from throughout the EU to demonstrate that homeless households can be housed. The ICSH Biennial Social Housing Conference had a session on homelessness including a presentation from Dr. Maureen Crane and Dr. Louise Joly on a large study on housing outcomes for formerly homeless persons.

The Provision of Housing and Services for the Elderly in the Voluntary Housing Sector

In the summer of 2010 the Irish Council for Social Housing conducted a survey as part of an exercise to map the provision of housing and services for the elderly within the Voluntary Housing Sector. Information was obtained on 210 schemes, as provided by 176 Housing Associations. This report details the findings of this survey.

ICSH Collaboration Toolkit

The ICSH Collaboration Toolkit provides a framework to help promote greater collaboration in the voluntary housing sector. It was supported and launched by Minister Michael Finneran, TD, Minister for Housing and Local Services at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government at the ICSH Finance Seminar in November 2010.

The toolkit sets out the various options for collaborative working and the key stages in developing collaboration and partnership arrangements between organisations. There are common aims and objectives that drive the process. These are considered, as well as the main barriers to collaboration.

ICSH Community Housing Awards 2009

Details of the winning projects at the 2009 ICSH Community Housing Awards. This was the first year in which there were separate winners by category. In total there were 8 different categories: housing for older people (smaller and larger scale), homeless projects, housing for people with disabilities, integrated housing projects, regeneration projects, PArt V projects, traveller accommodation projects and housing for families. This publication details the winner of each category and the overall winner of the 2009 ICSH Community Housing Award.

Working for Good Governance

With housing associations using increasing sums of public money, the issue of governance is becoming increasingly significant for the sector. In June 2008, the ICSH launched a guide to governance for the voluntary housing sector. Hard copies of the document will be distributed to members and are available to other organisations at a cost of €15.
