ICSH / CIH Level 4 Certificate for the Housing Profession

The ICSH and CIH have again teamed up to run the CIH Level 4 Certificate for the Housing Profession course in Dublin, beginning in September 2016.

Aimed at housing professionals aspiring to or working at management level, the course ensures you have a sound understanding of the context within which housing organisations operate and is delivered through a blend of classroom and online learning.

This qualification will give you an understanding of the essential aspects of being a housing manager today:

 

 

Housing Policy
 

You will further your understanding of housing policy in Ireland by exploring its historical development and the relationships between different policy making bodies and their policy making processes. IT will enable you to develop analytical skills; learning how to analyse and evaluate policies, in particular against their intended outcomes and impacts

 

Housing Management Services
 

You will explore the key functions involve in housing managements such as lettings, estate management, repairs and maintenance and tenancy management. You will consider different approaches to the provision of housing and explore legal responsibilities in areas such as homelessness

Housing Economics and Finance

 

This module will look at understanding the external sources of finance which housing organisations access. You will also explore the wider financial environment of housing organisations and the effect of subsidies.

 

Housing Need, Demand and Supply

 

You will explore the demographic profile of Ireland and understand the impact this, and socio-economic factors, have on housing need, demand and supply. This module will also examine a range of factors influencing local housing markets.

 

 

Housing Law

You will develop an understanding of the legal system in Ireland in relation to housing. You will explore the law in relation to landlords and tenants, examine the impact of human rights legislation and look at the application of the law in housing practice and homelessness

 

Managing People

In the final unit, you will examine how to manage people, through an understanding of human resource policy and practice. You will also explore strategies for effectively managing change and managing risk.

Cost:  €1,750 per learner

Course scheduleThe programme will commence delivery in September, with one full day session and one assignment to be completed every 7-8 weeks.  All training will take place at ICSH offices in Dublin.
