European Neighbours Day 2015

2015 marks the 15th anniversary of Neighbours Day, since it was launched in Paris, in 2000.

European Neighbours Day spans 36 countries, with over 20 million poeple taking part in the celebrations. All across Europe communities and groups will be celebrating European Neighbours Day, the aim of which is to bring neighbours and local people together and encourage community links.

The Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) promotes the event and asks members to mark the day here in Ireland by hosting an activity. In previous years members have organised afternoon activities and events for neighbours, both young and old including family friendly fun along with plenty of activities for the adults ranging from face painting, coffee mornings, music and gardening.

European Neighbours Day 2015 was a great success and the following ICSH video looks at the importance of promoting good neighbourhoods.
