€170m Stimulus Package Proposed for Social Housing
A €170m stimulus package which could provide over 3,000 social housing units and which would have a 50 per cent payback to the Exchequer in terms of taxes and savings has been proposed to the Government by the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH).

Housing Federation urges spending on social housing that provides ‘economic and social return on investment’
The Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) is advocating that “we should prioritise investments that offer an ‘economic and social return’ and social housing is a prime example of that”, said ICSH Executive Director Donal McManus. “For every 1,000 units built we can sustain over 1000 jobs in construction activity which provides an economic return to the exchequer, savings on welfare payments as well as preventing a housing crisis”.

Social Housing Allocation Down 1.7%: Challenging Budget for Housing Providers
The allocation for social housing in Budget 2009 is down 1.7% on last year. The Irish council for Social Housing (ICSH) the national representative body for voluntary housing associations, has claimed in its’ mid year statement on progress on sheltered housing that the health care needs of older people living in sheltered housing are being overlooked.

At the Western Meeting of voluntary housing organisations in Breaffy House Hotel Mayo, Thursday 19th June, 2008, the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH), the national federation of voluntary housing associations has called on more resources by the Government to be provided to support the care costs in sheltered housing projects in the Western Counties of Mayo, Galway, Roscommon and Sligo.
