The National Planning Framework: Ireland 2040 Plan

The Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government is leading the preparation of the National Planning Framework, or ‘NPF’, on behalf of Government. It is intended that the Ireland 2040 Plan will be a high-level document that will provide the framework for future development and investment in Ireland. It will be the overall Plan from which other, more detailed plans will take their lead.

In relation to housing, the NPF ‘Issues and Choices’ paper states that it is timely to examine the relationships between housing demand, supply, location and supporting infrastructure as part of a strategic, long term national approach to planning for people and place.

The ICSH has made a short submission to the first stage of the National Planning Framework process. You can read the submission here.
