Today, the Trust provides over 1,400 homes across Dublin City and suburbs, offering a range of housing options including supported housing for older people, the Iveagh Hostel for homeless men and general needs housing for families.

 

The position of Senior Housing Officer offers the opportunity to contribute to the work of a respected charitable Trust, in a challenging but rewarding environment.

€42k – €47k, depending on experience

Terms

Travel

A full clean driving licence and the use of a car are desirable.

The role

This is a senior role reporting to the Director of Housing, with responsibility for administering the relationship with the Trust’s tenants, both current and prospective, and with local authorities and other stakeholders.

 

The successful candidate should have approximately five-years’ experience in social housing or residential property, with a knowledge of housing law, tenancy agreements, and RTB procedures.

 

Experience of working in a tenant/customer-facing role is essential. It is expected that the successful candidate will have experience of dealing with a cross section of society, including vulnerable groups.

 

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, preferably in a housing-related area.

Person Specification

 

Experience

  • Five years’ working in social housing or residential housing in a tenant/customer-facing environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Line management experience
  • Ability to deal with complex and difficult situations
  • Ability to work on own initiative and flexibly as required
  • Experience dealing with local authorities or other statutory bodies
     
  • Knowledge of the various local authority differential rent schemes
  • Experience of working with Management Companies and Agents              
  • Working with figures and budget management.

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of social housing, tenancy agreements, housing law and in particular the Residential Tenancies Acts.                                       
  • Excellent administration & organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team  
  • Excellent working knowledge of Word and Excel.                                       

Desirable

  • Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent)
  • Professional qualification
  • Property Services Regulatory Authority Licence
  • Driving Licence and use of car.                                                  

Job Profile

General
 

  • Report effectively to senior management.
  • Implement and monitor regulatory standards.
  • Advise and collaborate with management and staff on operational and policy matters
  • Maintain records and reports in line with Iveagh Trust requirements
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of wider legislative, policy and procedural environment
  • Deal with sensitive issues in a professional, confidential and empathetic manner.
  • Promote and represent the Iveagh Trust
  • Assist the Director of Housing in his duties as required

 

Lettings and Allocations
 

  • Operating Iveagh Trust property lettings and allocations policy
  • Interviewing and assessing prospective tenants
  • Meet with the Director of Housing on a regular basis to discuss casework & approve cases for housing
  • Making allocations
  • Rent assessment and differential rent calculations
  • Advising tenants on rights and responsibilities as Iveagh Trust tenants
  • Introducing and familiarising tenants with properties
  • Preparing material for legal advice and RTB cases
  • Managing void properties in liaison with the maintenance division
  • Ensuring effective communication on voids, new tenancies and related matters across Iveagh Trust Departments.

 

Staff Management
 

  • Participate as required in recruitment and induction of new staff
  • Assist in mentoring staff as required
  • Manage tenant liaison staff as required.

 

Estate Management
 

  • Preparing, planning and delivering pre-tenancy programmes
  • Ensure effective communication strategies and robust tenant engagement structures are in place.
  • Represent the Iveagh Trust at Residents’ Committee meetings, which may include evenings
  • Produce quarterly tenant newsletter
  • Arrears Control and income maximisation
  • Visits to transitional tenants after 3 months of tenancy
  • Regularly visit schemes.

 

Training
 

  • Attend training as required appropriate to your role.
